Welcome to the Shorewood High School Student Support Blog
As part of our ongoing efforts to get more information to parents, guardians, and students, we have started a blog that will contain important information regarding everything and anything connected to the student support office. While our website will still be an important point of information, our blog will be dynamic and ever evolving. We will send, via Infinite Campus, emails to parents/guardians when we update the blog, so that people do not need to constantly check. We hope that you find this information valuable.
Sincerely,
Molly Norris (last names A-G) anorris@shorewood.k12.wi.us, 414-961-3177
Scott Brown (last names H-O) sbrown@shorewood.k12.wi.us, 414-961-3176

School Counseling
Academic, Career, Social and Personal Development
As we update our blog, we will organize our entries around the core aspects of the school counseling profession, guided by the American School Counselor's Association model of school counseling, a model also adopted by the Wisconsin School Counselor's Association (you can read about this model here). This model stresses a delivery of services focused on three core areas: academic success, college and career readiness, and personal/social well-being. At the secondary level, theses services are largely delivered through curriculum (classroom and whole class presentations), individual student planning, and responsive services. Should you have any questions about our roles, feel free to reach out to your child's counselor.
Meet Your Counselor (January/February Edition)
Mrs. Norris is one of the three school counselors who serve SHS. She works with students whose last names begin with A-G. Mrs. Norris received her undergraduate degree from West Virginia University, where she studied psychology. She moved back to Wisconsin and received her masters degree in school counseling from Marquette soon after. Before arriving in Shorewood, Mrs. Norris worked within the West Allis School District. She has 13 years of counseling experience, and she continues to enjoy helping students achieve their personal and academic success. She also loves working and living in Shorewood. In addition, Mrs. Norris happens to be a die hard Green Bay Packers fan and a pretty huge Tom Petty aficionado. When she isn't watching Aaron Rodgers throw touchdowns or sentimentally listening to old Tom Petty albums, she is probably spending time with her family, Quinn (7 mo.), Brooklyn (4), Lincoln (6), and her husband James, a fellow Shorewood school district employee. She also loves soccer and camping. Finally, Mrs. Norris is a huge fan of Beyonce--not the singer, but her adorable black lab mix, who coincidentally, shares the same name as her more famous counterpart. If you happen to see Mrs. Norris around town, feel free to strike up a conversation about the merits of "Last Dance with Mary Jane," or whether or not Aaron Rodgers is a good match for Danica Patrick. She will most certainly be all ears.
Very helpful info - I appreciate your efforts! Great lay-out, fun to read - nice to know it is there for reference. Not sure about Beyonce though! :):)
